Second person gets prison sentence for robbery | News, sports, jobs

CLEARFIELD – A former Brisbin woman accused of being involved in a robbery pleaded guilty Monday to reduced charges.

Kacy Rae Figart, 32, whose address is now Curwensville, was sentenced by Clearfield County Judge Paul E. Cherry to three months to one year in prison minus one day of probation for two years consecutive for conspiracy/simple assault and reckless endangering someone else.

According to court documents, Figart and Cody Lynn Luzier, 38, lured the victim to their home in Brisbin, then assaulted and robbed him.

Her co-defendant, Luzier, was sentenced in August by President Judge Fredric J. Ammerman to 51 months to 8.5 years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault and conspiracy.

In a separate 2024 case, Figart also pleaded guilty to driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. She received an additional sentence of six months to one year in prison and two years of probation for these charges.

In a third case, she must pay fines and costs for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Before sentencing, her lawyer, Daniel Nelson, told the court she realized she had a problem and was entering a rehabilitation program.

“She’s not the same person,” Nelson said.

The original charge stems from an incident in November 2023 at a home in Brisbin.

According to the affidavit of probable cause, the victim contacted Figart on Nov. 20, 2023, and asked if the two were getting together. She invited him to her home to visit her and another friend.

The victim arrived at the home around 2 a.m. that night. They were in the living room for a while before Figart asked him to go back into the bedroom to look at her bong, police said.

While walking back to the bedroom, he was allegedly attacked by Luzier, who hit him in the head several times with a metal object.

The victim told authorities he fell to the ground and Luzier jumped on top of him. Luzier then began choking and threatened to kill him, according to police records.

The victim was able to get away from Luzier and seek treatment at Penn Highlands Clearfield, according to court records.

Luzier was accused of taking $415 and a Bluetooth speaker from the man.

During the trial, Luzier testified in his defense, saying he did not rob the victim, but admitted he got angry and fought with him.
