Daniel Farke may be on the verge of making an incredibly harsh decision against Leeds United – View today

Leeds United left-back Sam Byram has been massive since coming on for the suspended Junior Firpo, but the ex-Barcelona man is available today and is certainly making his way back into the starting XI.

The Whites travel across the Pennines this afternoon to take on a Blackburn Rovers side who are enjoying a revival this season under John Eustace, as they look to reach the play-offs after surviving relegation on the final day of last season.

A win for Leeds on Wednesday evening kept spirits high in Daniel Farke’s camp as they rose to 35 points from 17 games, keeping their noses in front of the golden record of two points per game.

Leeds United boost: Junior Firpo back in contention today

As Leeds prepare for a trip to Ewood Park, they have a big team boost to look forward to in the form of Junior Firpo.

The left-back has been absent for the past three league games due to an FA suspension following an incident that was sanctioned retrospectively following the defeat at Millwall.

Firpo was photographed ‘headbutting’ Danny McNamara, and while the defender made a huge meal of the contact, the Leeds man couldn’t complain about a silly moment of red mist.

Fortunately, Leeds have now won the three games without Firpo against QPR, Swansea City and most recently Luton Town.

Sam Byram faces a tough selection decision in Blackburn v Leeds

It seems inevitable that Firpo will be brought back into the squad, adding even more attacking quality to this Leeds team who could well kick into gear with three straight wins.

However, Firpo’s return does mean someone has to make way, and that man will likely be Sam Byram, who has stepped in miraculously since Millwall left.

With an assist at Swansea and a fantastic goal against Luton, Byram has more than done his job as a substitute for the suspended Firpo.

While it is clear that Firpo deserves to come back to complete Leeds’ back four again, it nevertheless seems incredibly harsh for Byram to return to the bench after such performances.

Byram has proven in the last three games that even though he is second choice, he is more than good enough to not only hold his own in this side, but also add a lot in possession.
