Bismarck man arrested for sexually assaulting a paramedic while receiving emergency medical care

BISMARCK, ND (KFYR) – A Bismarck man was arrested on November 28 on charges of sexual assault against a paramedic.

Officers responded to the Metro Area Ambulance Station on Memorial Highway in Bismarck in the middle of the night.

In the report, the paramedic says 40-year-old Michael Sjomeling attacked her twice when she tried to place an IV in his arm.

Sjomeling’s first court appearance was on November 29 at 2:30 pm on charges of sexual abuse. A jury trial is scheduled for March 18, 2025.
