Arrest in death of elderly Golden Valley woman

RENO, Nev. (KOLO) – Reno police made an arrest Thursday in the death of an elderly woman who died Tuesday in Golden Valley.

William Holland Griggs, 46, was arrested on a charge of open murder. That charge means that the murder was committed in the first or second degree, or that it is manslaughter.

Police said they responded to the 7000 block of Mustengo Drive north of Beckwourth Drive after a report of an elderly woman with a medical problem. The woman was dead.

The Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death a homicide. That led to the investigation by detectives.

Police did not describe the woman’s relationship with Griggs.
